Inspired by Legacy
Before Walt Disney World and Central Florida's sprawl of attractions, there was a family-owned theme park called Cypress Gardens. Founder Dick Pope filled it with flowers, Southern Belles — and the world's first water ski show, performed in 1943.
For 66 years it held the title of the longest-running entertainment production in the world — outlasting Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus. Millions of visitors watched barefooters, Rampmasters, Aquamaids, and four-tier human pyramids, as the team broke over 50 world records and put Winter Haven on the map as the Water Ski Capital of the World.
When the park closed in 2009, former Show Director Mark Voisard and the Cypress Gardens skiers refused to let the legacy die. They reformed the team with two goals: keep wowing Central Florida audiences, and pass the craft to the next generation — right here on Lake Silver, with the City of Winter Haven.
Fresh From the Lake
The live site's News page hasn't been updated since November 2023. These are the stories it's missing.
June 28, 2026
The team won the Southern Regional Show Ski Championship on home water (June 27–28, 8 AM–5 PM, with Visit Central Florida as title sponsor), besting Tampa Bay and the Carolina Show Ski Team — and earned the team's first-ever berth at Show Ski Nationals. Bailey and Ty Hyatt swept the top female and male individual awards.
August 7–9, 2026
In the team's 14-year history, a Cypress Gardens squad competed at the 51st Division 1 Show Ski Nationals for the first time — taking "The Greatest Show on H2O" to the national stage against the country's best show ski teams.
